Help, My Fax Board Failed!

The following is a true story. The names have been changed and we took a bit of dramatic license for fun.

The time is 11:15 am and the finance department for a large industrial company has a problem.
Jim: Hey Silvia, I’m not getting send confirmations on the faxed invoices.

Slivia: Did you call IT?

Jim: Good idea, I’ll call Molly now. Hmmm, got voicemail. I’ll try the help desk. No answer, I left a message.

Silvia: Jim, if these invoices don’t get out we’re going to miss our billing deadline... let’s go down to IT and find out what the situation is.

12:15 Jim and Silvia in Molly’s office (IT)

Molly: Sorry guys, looks like the fax server is dead. We tried re-starting it but it won’t come back up. We have a call into the company and we’re waiting to hear back from them.

Silvia: Molly, by the time we get a new fax board in place and reconfigure everything we’re going to miss our billing deadlines. That will cost us and might make us miss our quarterly goal, and there will be consequences for everyone…

Molly: Silvia, I know, I know. Don’t worry, we’ll figure something out. Lance, can you please call the…
